The Main Border

February 2003 Whilst the Hellebore Bed is full of promise at this time of year, this border always looks as if it can never come back to life. |

Mid April 2003 Forget-me-nots add a lovely burst of blue at this time and a few of the yellow tulips we planted for the wedding last year have come back. |

The last day of April 2003! The blue Ceonothus (top right) joins the show as do last year's yellow wallflowers. |
|
|
|
Early June 2003! Irises, hardy geraniums and others start to move the show to its early summer purples and pinks. |

Early July 2003! Tall white daisies and the yellow hypericum at the back of the border, along with the pink flowered spirea in the foreground, add the next burst of colour.

Late August 2003! The border is quietening down now, although the large red fuchsias, inherited from the garden's previous owner, will put on their show for many more weeks. Japanese anemones and sedum are the real highlights at this time. |

Early October 2003! Pink sedum (front), which have flowered throughout September, and asters provide the main flower colour this month, but many perennials and shrubs are taking on red and yellow autumn tints after the long, dry spell.
