I am really excited! I have a Black East Indie(I'm pretty sure) duck egg incubating right now, and i just candled it at day 9, and i can see it bouncing and moving around! I have been doing everything correctly, and I hope that he/she survives! I can't wait until it hatches, and i am crossing my fingers that it everything will well. I've been calling it Pat, lol.

Hello Caroline, Your website is amazing! I used to live in a big city and now I live in the country, my lovely partner bought me 3 Trout Indian Runner Ducks for my birthday, 1 drake and 2 ducks, then we aquired a Khaki Campbell duck, rescued because a fox ate her friends :( They all get on brilliant and have settled in fine. Its all new to me! I incubated the eggs, and they have internally pipped! I cant wait I am so excited for them to hatch, yet I am so nervous incase I do it wrong and hurt them or even worse!....since I have no experience. I have read your website avidly, I think the pics are a brilliant help, no where else on the internet is this useful! I loved the pics I didnt know the airsac grew bigger, I read this, and was concerned my eggs didnt do this on the correct day, but when I went home and checked they had!!!!!! And they are even bigger now, and I cant hear tapping or cheeping but like a squishing noise, I should have 5 ducklings in 2/3 days, some will be trout runners and some will be runners/campbells, which I think may look a bit strange but I will love them all the same! A big thank you, Laura and ducks!

Hi I have loved hearing about your story and about your wonderful family - I am the proud Mum of 5 baby ducklings, 3 had to be helped to hatch (thank you for the tips) - They are 7 days old now and have had their second swim this morning. I also have a very friendly cat the ducklings being the boss. Little Nemo has slept on her back

Thanks very much for this great page, it has motivated me to put some of our Cayuga eggs into an incubator - result is two very happy little ducklings splashing around in a paint roller and two more eggs pipping just now :) Obviously I've named the first one after Sheldon!!

Sure did enjoy your page, and also learned a lot that I did not know. Am now in process of building a cage in our barn. Getting it safe from preditors is really more work than the actual cage construction. Thanks again...Ron.ewc

Hi, our cat carried a young wild duckling into the house this evening, I managed to rescue it and its now settled down in a warm box with some grass and nesting material for the night, I just hope it will survive. I looked onto your web site to see what to feed it, and will give some boiled egg yolk. Have also given a small bowl of water. I hope it survives the night....cheers Rich

I really enjoyed reading Sheldon's story.I love poultry!I hatched chicks for my science project.I miss them a lot,but the other day I saw fertile duck eggs at Whole foods.I got into ducks when a teacher at my school hacthed them.Me and a girl named Riley wanted to go up to the teacher's office to see the duckling. After nearly a week,we got to go up for a few minutes, but then we left.I really hope I get to hacth them myself. My favorite part of the story is Sheldon learning to swim.Just two years ago,I was like Sheldon at eight days old.I was scared of the water. Now I bet can swim American crawl across the pool at the hotel I'm about to leave for.Good luck,Sheldon!

I am another huge fan of Sheldon as you can see. I raised 3 ducks a few months ago and named the second one that hatched Sheldon! The other 2 duck's names are Bruiser and Peepers. Right now they are living out in a pond that belongs to the neighborhod. My babies are growing up fast! Sheldon is already developing his adult black line of feathers under the beak, which has its greenish color. I named the first duck that hatched after another one of your ducks too you already saw it but i'll say it again:Bruiser. I really want to come visit you one day, but it might not happen for another couple years. Your Sheldon was one of the cutest ducklings I have ever seen! But then as I read on in her diary and she grew into a juvenile, and then seeing her as an adult, SHE WAS, AND STILL IS, ONE OF THE CUTEST DUCKS I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!!!!!! When or if I come to your house Sheldon will be the first duck I will see. Though I know you are her favorite person to hang out with, I bet she'll still be friendly. I KNOW she will. She was friendly to the other fans that visited her.
