Loved reading your page on raising ducklings and checking out the gallery. I have a pair of Mallards and she has laid her first three eggs for me hoping that they will hatch some ducklings for me. Your information is very useful and if I have a dilema will be sure to contact you!

Very pleased I came across your site... I rescued 8 eggs, after their nest had been thrashed, and poor mum never returned :-( It was more out of hope, as they were very cool to touch, but was over joyed when i put my ear to them, and could hear noises :-D So Im sure i'll be re-visiting your site many times to come, as ive never done this before, more use to much larger 4 legged beasts ( major swatting up at present !!! ) So fingers crossed i'll be a proud mum soon with happy and well kids !!

Hi everyone I have just hatched a duckling 3days ago and has a curled up foot. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do, I have searched the internet for answers. Some say to take it to the vet, and others suggest to do this creidit card thing with plasters. I would like to try the latter as it would save me on vet fees. Would this be a cruel thing to do? or is it ok? If it ok to go ahead with how excactly is it done? I dont quite get how it is done.

Beautiful website! Love the baby signing story - my daughter was in speech therapy at 24 months and diagnosed with a definate speech delay. After just ONE session, we learnt some fabulous new techniques and when her referral came up again three months later she had gone from 9 spoken words to over 100. She now doesn't shut up! Signing didn't work with my little one, she is far too impatient. However, it is great to see it has worked with others! She is now starting playschool in September at age 3 yrs and 10 months, and is already recognising all her letters and numbers, and can write from 1 to 10. We have some residual motor skills problems as she is possibly dyspraxic, but we don't worry about her language any more! It really does mean a lot to see parents taking the time to find a way to communicate with their kids, too many rely on children's tv and computer games to keep them out of their own hair. My biggest pleasure in the world is seeing the pride on my daughter's face as she learns something new, or conquers something she has struggled with for some time.

Used your page as reassurance for our first duck hatch. We have one duckling (Saxony) so far (1 hour ago) from 9 eggs and your page really helped us by stopping us helping the duckling out of the egg. What a joy to see and hear the youngster battle out of the egg. Thank you.

Howdy! Thank you for all your work on your web page! I am a ESL (English as a Second Language) Teacher for 4-5 year olds. We hatched a few chickens in our classroom (actually we had a power issue over a long weekend and I had to fake the hatching). The kids were so excited and talked so much about the experience (as an ESL teacher I will do anything to keep my kids talking), that we decided to do it again. Ducks came in second to alligator eggs. Our first set of eggs came from Texas. Unfortunatly, our thermomotor was broken and after 10 days and a conversation with a bery nice man from Texas we found out that our goose was cooked and our eggs would not develope into ducks. My students took the news well and we got another set of eggs from our local 'Chicken Lady' (that's what my students named the lady we got out chicken eggs from). We have candled our eggs and we have movement, veins and heart beats! Our babies are due to hatch on June 8th! (do I sound like a an excited mother?) Now that it looks like we are going to have babies I need to know what to do with them. Your web site is great! I panicked when I read about oil glands and ducklings needing their mothers oil to swim. I will be adding your site to my book marks and refering to it often! Thanks so much!

Hey there! Your website has helped me so much in researching how to care for the ducks, at the moment their having a natural lay, and yesterday i discovered an external pipped egg, it had quite a large hole about the size of a £2 coin. But when i checked this morning the egg was missing and i cant seem to find the duckling anywhere. There may have been yolk on the floor of her house. She is locked in at night so a fox couldnt have got in. Any idea what may have happened?! Would the parents have done anything to the duckling or egg?! Your thought would be much appreciated, Thank you

Great website!!! I have 4 mallard ducks that we bought from our local farm store April, 20th so we are not quite sure exactly how old they are but they are so much fun! We plan on letting them breed if we have males and females, would you suggest letting the ducks take care of the eggs by their self or us incubating them?
