This website has helped me so much with my ducks! It has so much good information! I have a Rouen Drake and a Pekin duck, and 3 of their ducklings. It has been a big learning experience hatching the ducks, but they are so cute with their adorable little personalities. Whenever I have a question, I can come look here. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for all the info on ducklings. My ducks gave me three ducklings, I have had the runners and campbells for about 18 months now and this is the first time for me. I found it so helpful as I was worried about the next type of food from starters feed. also I did not know how to sex them. Carry on the good work. I will email you if I have any other problems. One other thing when I go into the pen they seem so afraid and no one but me has been in there. No one has hurt them so why are they like this or is it normal, my adult ducks are just fine. Kind regards Dorise

Three springs ago, 7 ducklings from a mother who was one of many muscovy ducks that live in our area and swim in a canal in our back yard, adopted us! What an experience! We always feed the ducks and have had ducklings with their moms come before, but these were different. THey seemed to decide my husband and I were better parents then Moma duck. At first moma would sqawk and scold when they would fit through our fence, but got used to it. As soon as those babies saw us outside, they would come running and peeping to eat! They would eat out of our hands and sit on our feet and legs and arms. How they made us laugh! They tugged at our clothing, hair and shoelaces. they always walked with us wherever we went, putting the garbage out, getting the mail, and gardening. They got along with the dog and cat, but ran from other people! Now grown they still come to eat out of our hands and get their treat of worms!

Your website was so helpful! Thankyou for posting! My husband & I have had a male & female duck for over a yr,& they just hatched two ducklings, but momma kept smashing & thrashing them around,so we had to intervene. (Unfortunately,we didn't intervene before she broke ones leg...) & @ 3am,there are no stores open & no one you can call,so this was a Godsend. Thank you, again!

Hello, we don't live that far from you in Downgate. I am about to embark on my first attempt at hatching out some eggs from our own ducks (campbells). Your website is so informative and fun, with lovely pictures. I think I will be referring to it throughout the whole process!! Thanks

Thank you for all the useful information and the pictures on your site. I have one little Mallard (out of 4) that hatched in my classroom. He attended 3rd grade for 3 weeks with my class. "Lucky" had reading time provided by the kids where they would set out books like, "The Best Book of Bugs" and they even turned the pages for him! :)He has been home for the summer with me for three weeks and I am so fascinated with him that I haven't been able to part with him. I am anxious to find out if he is a drake or duck and am thinking drake as there is no quack yet. He is about 7 weeks old. No little black tail-tale sign yet. Thank you for all your advice. He just loved his paint roller pan bathtub and the kids got such a kick out it. It really brought the class together and they love Lucky. To be able to watch him and see instincts in nature has been so fun. To know that he depends on me for protection and survival is a huge responsibility. Thank you for your help.

What a wonderful site. I have 9 call duck eggs about to hatch under a broody hen! mum duck (hyacinth) seems to have abandoned them due to Gloria the hen taking over. I am so loking forward to this event. The nest is in the chicken coop, do you think the other chickens will harm the ducklings at all, should I move the babies out asap or remove the other chickens? will mum duck take over or will the chicken be the mum? I really hope you are able to advise me, you certainly seem to be the expert. I hope you are keeping well. Thanks sooooo much. regards Debbie.

I'm going to be getting six ducklings in a few days and found your site very helpful. I never thought about using a plastic bucket and setting it up as you have. Also I love the paint pan idea. Thanks for such a great page.

Having been left with a present on the grass by the two Mallards which visit my pond each year to make love and then depart. The blue egg was lovingly cared for whilst I scanned the internet and found your page. After many discussions that it was unfertilised etc and I was going excentric low and behold 2 days ago we have a fine health baby duckling. Your page is great it takes you through the steps in an easy to follow talk. There is only one page missing and that is teaching to fly and how to get over them if they leave? Thanks for help Ralph

Thank you for your hands-on information. I am attepting my first hatch very soon, and have encountered so many different, yet the same processes for a successful hatch. Your information will help clear some things up a bit. Once again, my thanks!!

Thank you for a very informative site that I return to again and again. Just starting out with ducks and I have found your site most helpful. With a history of ME and Fibro Myalgia too it is comforting to visit. Thank you.

I really enjoyed reading your sight - two years ago, my family and I raised three baby mallards in our backyard pool. I can say that it was one of the best experiences of my life. I found them the day they hatched, and I became their mommy (they imprinted with me). David, Roger, and Eugene were the cutest ducklings ever. I loved each of their personalities and I miss them very much. From that experience, I want to continue (besides studying to be an engineer) help/rehabilitate orphaned or baby birds at nearby wildlife rehabilitation centers. It's great to see other duck lovers out there! :)
