Thanks for the tips. I am a new duck owner. I started out with 15 adult ducks. I now have 12 ducklings hatched outside naturally. I don't think I am necessary to this process, but I want to know what to do with my new charges.

Would just like to say that I thought your site was wonderful, I am so pleased I found this site as it has been most imformative. You seem lovely caring people & I wish you all the best of luck. We are researching how to care for ducklings before we buy our pet. I cant wait to become a mother to new addition in the near future! Which would be the more suitable breed as a pet? Do you have any other advice for us as we are a little nervous on becoming parents! Thank You. Leanne

Hello. I found your website very usefull, thanks. Last night I was walking my dogs and I came across a couple of ducklings (Not sure how old they are, mainly black with a a yellow patch). I waited for about an hour and a half to see if their parents came back, which they did not. so I feared for their safety and took them home as they were just in the middle of the cycle track, where loads of dogs were. At the moment I am fedding them soaked bread crums but i also bought swan/duck feed which I soaked in boliing warter and then put it in cold warter. Is this okay for them to eat? However not really sure what I should be doing with them as this is a new experience for me. I Have also tried to contact wildlife aggencies but nobody seems intreasted. However I was just wondering what it would take to bring them up. For example what happens when they become adults? what happens when they learn to fly? etc. It would be much appreaciated if you could email me back with some advice. Thank - You Gemma

Nice site. Just got 11 wild mallard ducklings in a child's paddling pool outside my front door. They're the best thing ever. Your site is warm-hearted and really helpful. Good luck with everything!

Hi, I just wanted to say a real BIG Thank you for your really helpful information about raising ducklings! At the end of last year I was devastated when I lost my Aylesbury Duck :o( (unknown reason) A few months later it was my birthday and my boyfriend decided to buy me and incubator and 6 Aylesbury duck eggs. When I received them I was so happy! But then I was nervous about the whole situation! When I found you site it was like a blessing! Information I could understand without being too technical, really easy to follow! I was really happy when 3/6 eggs hatched! (Not bad for first time for me!). Your site has helped me with everything that was a worry to me at first! With what food they can eat how you handle them! Now I have three happy ducklings named Magic, Smash and Sparkle! Month old now and they already have a big house, massive pen and pond! Now if I plan a second hatch I now know I’ll be much calmer this time round! (Sound like if I’m having a baby myself!!) Thanks a lot to you, your site is the MOST helpful one on the internet!!!

We decided to get my 8 year old son a duck as a pet for Easter. It is a Pekin duck, yellow right now and I guess supposed to be white when older. It was supposed to be 4 days old when we got it but I think it was either younger or else a runt as it has not grown as much as I've seen stated on the internet (my only reference!) which is why I appreciated your site. But we love him! He's so adorable, has to be with us all the time, even when eating it wants us nearby or it peeps loudly. It is very easy to care for, mainly food and water and warmth. I'm constantly picking up little poops, but don't mind. They're easy to clean up. Having a little trouble getting him to swim but we keep trying. It loves to be cuddled. It is particularly fond of my son and wants to be with him the most, following him everywhere. It has helped him to be more gentle with animals. I am looking forward to our little duck growing up with our family and seeing how he is as a pet. Thanks for the great info. Alice

I just bought some Pekin ducklings! Yesterday I tried to teach them how to swim. They were swimmimg like pros! Do you need a pond for them when they get older? My mom wants to know. I thought we could buy a kitty pool for them. I spend at least 2 hours with them every day. This is my first time to have ducks. I still don't kknow which are the males and the females, though. I can't wait until they get older! I want to take millions of pictures, but my mom said that they will take a while to get older. I am the only one in the whole school to have goats, chickens, chicks, AND ducks! AND a llama! I want a horse, cows, and pigs, though. I barely even look at the chicks, because I am paying more attention to the ducklings. If you look close enough, you can see the tiny feathers on their tails. They are 3 days old. I can't wait until they lay eggs! My mom is going to get a paint tray for them. I just used a food bucket. They loved it. They went CRAZY when I put them back in the pen!

Thank you soooooo much for all the information on ducks. I have only two ducklings left out of 14. I have no idea where the others went to. These were in our chicken pen getting beat up on from the hens. I brought them in and had no where else to turn to until I found your website. Thanks a bunch again.

Hello , i was in my garden when 2 ducklings walked over the grass i waited about an hour to see the mother but there was no sign so i decided to take them in.I did have 1 the year before but it became ill and the vet put it down.I would like to know what the best things are to feed them ? We live by a river and i look every morining to find the mother but i have had no look !I was thinking because they follow me that i could go into the river and let them swim its only shallow so there is no danger. And can you think of any names for them ! ? many thanks x
